Man dies shielding his mother from gunfire
A Chicago man was shot and killed Saturday afternoon while shielding his mother from bullets, according to family members. Dietra Luckett said that her nephew, James Jones, 'took his body and put it on top of his mother's body. He covered her body.' A Chicago Police department spokesman would not comment on Luckett's story or identify the victims but confirmed that a 21-year-old man was killed and a woman was critically injured. The man was pronounced dead on the scene, he said. Police are still investigating the shooting, but said it was gang-related. Luckett said that her sister, Alicia Jones, had not yet been told of her son's death. Luckett said that two of Jones' four children had been killed in earlier violence. Source: Chicago Tribune
