Mrs Buhari appeals to APC not to renege on their promise to pay N5k to unemployed Nigerians

The wife of the President, Her Excellency Aisha Buhari has appealed to the ruling party All Progressives Congress, APC not to renege on their campaign promise of paying N5,000 to 25 million unemployed Nigerians and giving school children one free meal a day. This comes after the senators from the party voted against the senate moving a motion calling on the Presidency to pay the N5,000 allowance. Speaking further, Mrs Buhari said The APC is a party of integrity and had assured Nigerians during the campaign that it would pay 5,000 Naira each month to 25 million most vulnerable citizens. Ambode appeals to FG to expedite work on Apapa container terminal bridge

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Tuesday carried out on-the-spot assessment of traffic situation as well as the condition of road networks in Apapa and other major axis of the State. The Governor, who visited major axis in Apapa such as Creek Road, Liverpool Road, BUA Corridor, expressed dissatisfaction with the state of affairs where containerized trucks have completely taken over the roads. At the Creek Road housing Thisday Newspapers, the Governor made a stop-over at the Liverpool under bridge where he inspected the on-going construction of bridge which is designed to accommodate about 1,000 containerized trucks at once upon completion.    Governor Ambode also inspected the on-going construction works in Isolo Road and Adeoyo Street in Ladipo, where he was briefed by the contractor on site about the level of work done so far. The Governor, along with his team, also made a stop-over at the Vanguard Avenue in Apapa

Obasanjo visits Buhari in Aso Rock

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo visited President Buhari in Aso Rock today November 10th. Obasanjo arrived the presidential villa at about  12 noon  and went straight to the banquet hall where he had a closed door meeting with Buhari. He refused to speak with state house correspondents after their meeting.

The seven people, all members of the Hazara ethnic group including three women and 9-year-old (pictured above), were abducted by Islamic militants loyal to ISIS on October 1, from Rasani village in the Gelan district of neighbouring Ghasni province on their way to their province. According to deputy police chief in Zabul, Jailani Farahi, their bodies were found on Sunday, November 8, in southern Zabul.    "Daesh fighters(local name for the Islamic militants) brutally killed these people and their dead bodies have been carried to Shah Joi district hospital. We were able to receive their bodies with the help of tribal elders." "Among those beheaded were three women whose necks were brutally cut," head of Zabul provincial council Atta Jan Haq Parast added.

Buhari orders mass retirement of Permanent Secretaries

President Buhari has ordered the mass retirement of permanent secretaries in various ministries. Buhari gave the directive after a meeting with the Chief of Staff to the President Abba Kyari and the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita. No fewer than 17 of the Permanent Secretaries were affected.

EFCC trial: Court grants Suswam, his former commissioner N200m bail

Justice A.R. Mohammed of the Federal High court in Abuja has granted former Benue state governor, Gabriel Suswam and his former commissioner, Omodachi Okolobia bail of N200 million each. Suswam and Okolobia are standing trial over allegations of money laundering to the tune of N3.1 billion carried out by them while Suswam was governor of Benue state. Part of the bail condition includes one surety each who shall be not less than a Director, Grade Level 12 in the employment of the federal, state or local government. Each surety shall swear an affidavit of means while the two accused persons are to hand over their travel documents in the custody of the court. The presiding judge adjourned the case to December 8th and 9th.
