President Buhari names Anthony Ayine as new Auditor General

President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated Anthony Mkpe Ayine to be considered and confirmed by the Nigerian Senate as the Auditor General of the Federation, The Nation reports. In a letter by the president to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki on Tuesday, December, 13, Buhari noted:  “In line with this constitutional requirement, the Federal Civil Service Commission has recommended Mr. Anthony Mkpe Ayine for appointment as the Auditor-General for the Federation. The Curriculum Vitae of Mr. A. M. Ayine is herewith attached.” President Buhari added:  “I have accepted this recommendation and hereby present the nomination of Mr. Anthony Mkpe Ayine for confirmation by the Senate. - Expired rice is being smuggled into Nigeria - Comptroller Mamudu Haruna of the Nigerian Customs has issued a warning on expired rice - As the festive season approaches, Nigerians are urged to be careful while buying rice Customs officers with apprehended smugglers Comptroller Mamudu Haruna, the customs controller, Federal operations unit, Ikeja, said on Tuesday, December 13 that most rice smuggled through Idiroko, Seme, Jibia and other border stations had expired. Haruna, then urged the Nigerian public to be cautious when patronizing the smuggled rice sellers in the country saying that those eating such smuggled rice were causing damage to their bodies. The comptroller went on to explain that some of the expired rice had been impounded by customs officers and kept in the warehouses. MMM participant regrets putting money into scheme

AN MMM participant has vowed to visit a native doctor following the news of the freezing of account by the admin for a month. The unnamed man who was riding in a car with his friends said he regretted putting his money in the scheme as he had a premonition not to do so. Boy, aged 8, killed at birthday party by TOMBSTONE (video)

- An eight-year-old boy has passed away after a massive tonbstone fell on him - The child was celebrating his friend's party when the incident occured - Police launched investigation, church members plan to support the boy’s family A boy, aged 8, was playing at a graveyard when a heavy tombstone broke and toppled onto him at a church in Lynn, Arkansas, US. The tragic incident took place during a birthday party that was held on a church premises on Saturday, December 10. READ ALSO:  Rescuers save man beaten and buried alive in tomb (photos, video) The unnamed child was freed from under the fallen headstone and rushed to hospital, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead. The boy reportedly died from his head injuries. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation.
