Quintonio Legrier, 19, and Bettie Jones, 55, died in hospital early on Saturday after being shot on the city's West Side. Officers responding to the call at about 4.25am "were confronted by a combative subject", Chicago police said in a statement. Authorities have not disclosed any other details about the shooting and police did not say whether either of the victims was armed.
