Buhari appoints Bukar-Abba as acting chair of Federal Character Commission

President Buhari has approved the appointment of Shettima Bukar-Abba as the acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, (FCC). This appointment comes after the sudden demise of the former Chairman of the agency, Alhaji Muhammad Bello Alkali last week Friday January 8th. Until his appointment, Bukar-Abba was the federal commissioner representing Borno State in the commission.

EFCC files charges against former PDP Chairman and his son over N600m diversion

  Former  National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Minister of defense, Dr. Haliru Mohammed Bello, and his son,Abbah Mohammed,  have both been formally charged by the  Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for collecting N600 million from the former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki. According to reports, father and son are likely to be docked on Tuesday and Wednesday next week.  Mohammed Bello's son,  Abbah Mohammed, allegedly received N600m from the Office of the NSA (ONSA) in the name of Bam Properties, however, the reason for the transfer of the money to the company was not disclosed. President Buhari to name 14 Special Advisers soon

President Buhari will soon name his 14 special advisers according to new reports. A source at the presidency revealed this to Daily Trust "You know the ministers have just been inaugurated. The key appointments which Mr. President is set to announce any moment from now are those of his special advisers. Mr President is no longer in the process of searching for those advisers. That has been done. He will announce their names any time soon,” the source said The only Special Adviser Pres. Buhari has so far appointed since assuming office is Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.

Attorney General to appear in court Nov. 23 over Dasuki's house arrest

Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court in Abuja has extended till Monday, November 23rd the summons he issued against the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Alhaji Abubakar Malami (SAN) to appear before him to explain the continued siege being laid on the Abuja residence of the Former National Security Adviser (NSA), Colonel Dasuki (rtd). Justice Ademola gave the extension after the new Solicitor General of the Federation, Taiwo Abidogun, who was in court for the first time over Dasuki’s matter, told the court that the AGF and Minister of Justice had not resumed office. Abidogun said Malami will be resuming office on Wednesday November 18th and will be briefed on the matter by Thursday or Friday. He assured the court that the AGF will appear before it unfailingly on Monday.

Aliko Dangote, three other directors resigns from Dangote Flour Mill

Aliko Dangote and three other directors have resigned from the board of Dangote Flour Mills after majority shareholder of Flour Mill, Tiger Brands, cut funding support to its struggling Nigerian division today November 16th. According to Reuters, South Africa's Tiger Brands said it was 'currently exploring various alternatives with regard to its investment in Dangote Flour Mills". Aliko Dangote holds 10 percent of the company's equity through Dangote Industries. The other directors who resigned along with Dangote are Olakunle Alake, Asue Ighodalo and Arnold Ekpe.
