Recession: FG orders Directors in Ministries, others to henceforth fly only economy class

Following the current economic recession, the Federal government has ordered all director generals in the various Ministries and Managing Directors of Federal parastatals to henceforth fly only economy class for any of their local or international engagements. A circular sent out on November 2nd to all the Ministries and parastatals reads “In view of the ensuing budgetary and fiscal challenges faced by the Federal Government arising from low oil revenue, it has become necessary to review the Guidelines for Local and International Travels as provided for in Circular Ref. No. SGF. 6/S.2/X/545 of 31st March, 2016 with a view to further prune recurrent expenses on travels and tours. Accordingly, Government has decided that all Civil and Public Servants in the rank of Directors and below in Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies as well as Chief Executive Officers (Managing Directors, Executive Secretaries, Directors-General, etc) of Federal Government Parastatals, Agencies and Ins

The year 2016 just like previous year has been Odunlade Adekola’s year in movie industry especially Yoruba genre. The tall and handsome Yoruba actor has gone a step further in this year as he appeared in his first movie, The Grudge alongside RMD, Ireti Doyle, Funmi Holder, Jaiye Kuti, Ijeoma Aniebo and others. The movie which is enjoying good cinema runs across Nigeria has thrown up debate about Odunlade and RMD. Some people feel Odunlade should feel privileged acting alongside industry veteran and such big brand as RMD. Cristiano Ronaldo wins Di Stefano award just hours after signing new contract deal at Real Madrid (Photos)

Football star Cristiano Ronaldo was all joy on Monday night, as he collected Marca's Alfredo di Stefano award for the best player in La Liga for the 2015-16 season, just hours after signing a new multi-million pound deal with Real Madrid. Ronaldo netted 35 goals and provided 11 assists for Madrid in the La liga last season, netted 16 times in the Champions League which Madrid won, while also won the Euros with Portugal.   'The 2015-16 season was filled with many emotions with the Champions League and the European Championship,' Ronaldo told the audience upon being presented the award at the Florida Retiro in Madrid.  'Today has also been a very special day with my contract renewal and a prize from MARCA. Fayose Visits Fani-Kayode in EFCC Custody

The executive governor of Ekiti State, Peter Ayodele Fayose, joined the ever growing list of dignitaries paying solidarity visits to the illegally detained former minister of aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode. The governor visited Fani-Kayode in EFCC custody on Tuesday afternoon and spent quite some time encouraging him. He arrived the commission about 2:15pm and was received by a team of operatives led by one Mr Madaki. He later departed the commission at 4:30pm. Fayose’s visit is the latest among those of top dignitaries who have paid solidarity visits to the former Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP Campaign Organisation. Recall that the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Senators, leaders of the PDP and other political, religious and socio-cultural organizations are among those who have paid the former minister a visit in custody.
