Huge saw blade slices truck but driver escapes unhurt (photo)

Image
A man in China is counting his lucky stars after a huge saw blade came crashing onto a highway and right into his car, and he survived. The man, identified only as Mr. Xiang, was driving on Chongqing-Guizhou Expressway in Central China when the giant circular saw blade fell of the back of a truck carrying equipment in a nearby lane. The blade flew into Mr. Xiang's car and lodged in the front of his truck. Xiang managed to keep control of the vehicle and walked away unhurt.  "I heard a 'bang' and then I saw all the white smoke in front of me. I almost lost control of my car,” Xiang told local reporters the day after the incident. Police said that if Xiang had been driving faster or if the blade had hit at a slightly different angle, he could have been killed.

Obama shuts down heckler who tried to interrupt him during speech at the White House

Image
President Obama shut down a heckler who tried to interrupt him during a speech at the White House Wednesday evening, then had her removed from the room. Obama was half-way through delivering an address about civil rights for lesbian, gay and transsexual Americans at a reception in the presidential mansion Wednesday night when he was interrupted by one of his guests.   Jennicet Gutiérrez, a transsexual Mexican woman and campaigner, started yelling at him to close deportation centers until she was escorted out by security. Gutiérrez shouted out that she was an illegal immigrant and a trans woman and was 'tired of the abuse' she claims immigration officials are carrying out on minorities. Obama tried to ask her to stop, but turned sour when she wouldn't stop shouting. He said: 'Hold on a second I - OK, you know what? No no no no no. You're in my house.' The President tried to start another sentence, but was interrupted twice more. The crowd ...

Model Temi stuns in new photos as she marks Work Vitiligo Day

Image
There is a lot of stigmatization that surrounds Vitiligo (pronounced Vi-Ti-Lai-Go). The skin condition is caused by de-pigmentation of some parts of the skin and usually occurs when skin pigment cells die or are unable to function.  This skin condition is rare with worldwide incidences averaging 1% with most people who're affected being diagnosed before the age of 40. Temilola Omobajesu, a model affected with vitiligo, states that the confidence within you is the key to overcome the 'stigma'.   "It took me some years to really accept Vitiligo. Vitiligo affected my modelling dreams and aspirations. Most Directors and Agents would tell me they couldn’t work with me. Some would even say it to my face that they need girls with beautiful skin not my patches." Temilola has started Viti-Dence Foundation, an NGO dedicated to the morale boosting of people with vitiligo and workshops on how to live with vitiligo with confidence, hence the name Viti-Dence (#vitilig...
