“We’re Not Meant For The Kitchen Alone” – Yemi Alade Shades President Buhari In Her MAMA Award Acceptance Speech

In the just concluded MTV MAMA Awards 2016which took place on saturday, 22nd of October in Johannesburg, South Africa, Yemi Alade was awarded an award for Best Female Artiste.
While recieving the award she made a short speech dedicated to African women to contradite what her President, President Buhari said against his wife, saying she belongs to the kitchen.

“Give it up to all the African women in the building.
“We’re not meant for the kitchen alone, we are not meant for the living room alone, we are not meant for the other room alone.
“We are hardworking women and we belong to the society too.
“If not, I won’t be here receiving this award.”
Yemi Alade didn’t just win an award but she also co-hosted the award ceremony. She fully represented her country to the fullest and she was not alone as her colleague, Wizkid also won Best Africa Artiste, Best Male and Best Collaboration.
