Here are five things we learnt from the Super Falcons' performances.
1. Jonathan Alaba is a great replacement for Precious Dede
Prior to the start of the 2016 African Women Cup of Nations, the fear of many Nigeria fans was who would be in goal for the Super Falcons after the retirement of first choice goalkeeper Precious Dede, but Bayelsa Queens' goalkeeper Jonathan Alaba sent good signals of herself as she proved beyond reasonable doubt that she is a good replacement for retired Precious Dede.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper only conceded a goal in this championship which was in the Super Falcons' 1 - 1 draw against Ghana.
2. Falcons needs to improve before the next edition
Super Falcons might have won the the 2016 AWCON, but the fact is that they have to improve most especially in the midfield ahead of the next edition. Nigeria defeated South Africa 1 - 0 in the semi-final, but their performance was not good against the Bayana Bayana.
3. No more minors in female African football
After beating Mali 6-0 in their first game, the thought of many Nigerians was that the Super Falcons would edge their Ghanaian opponents, but they were forced to a 1 - 1 draw. Other African teams have also improved as it showed in the final where Cameroon dominated most part of the game.
4. No much difference between the AWCON and AFCON finals in terms of fans
The 2016 African Women Cup of Nations final really showed that there is no much difference to that of the Men's Nations Cup as the way fans trooped in for the game was amazing.
Women football has indeed come to stay.
5. Asisat Oshoala is a reliable striker
