A former House of Representative Nze Duru collapsed in a Zone 2 police cell
A former House of Representative Nze Duru on Friday, January 13, collapsed inside a police cell in Onikan, Lagos state.
Duru who is also the vice chairman of First Guarantee Pensions Limited was said to have been arrested on Thursday, January 12, over accusations by the National Pension Commission.
He was said to have ordered staff of the pension commission out of the office using some armed men.
The staffs were later taken to the Financial Controllers office and some documents belonging to the company taken away from them.
Vanguard reports that Duru was arrested on the order of the inspector general of police and was taken to Zone 2 police command where he was detained.
He was later rushed to the emergency unit of the Police Medical Centre before being taken to a private ward.
But in denial, Duru said the allegations against him are false.
He said the police is biased on the matter.
He also alleged that the police also prevented him from taking his medicine after his arrest, thus, aggravating his health condition.
Duru said the assistant inspector general of police in-charge of Zone 2 command, Onikan, Kayode Aderanti denied him access to medical care until one of the policemen raised the alarm over his deteriorating health.
